Did you ever want to be a pilot?

“With realization of one’s own potential & self confidence in one’s ability, one can build a better world.” ~Dalai Lama

It was a bright, sunny day in San Jose, CA.  I had just graduated from college and was visiting my in-laws, wondering what to do with my life.  I had the whole world and its opportunities before me and now it was time to decide what I wanted to do with my life. Just a week after graduation the Army had sent me a draft notice.  I had had my physical and was waiting for orders to be enlisted.

Here I was, riding in the back seat of my father-in-law’s car near Mountain View, CA.  As I was gazing up into the sky, I saw an airplane flying low over the freeway making its landing at the Moffett Field airport.  What a beautiful sight!  A hint of exhaust was coming from four engines with these giant propellers pulling it through the air towards this slab of concrete they called a runway.  With the rumble of those turbine engine props, this huge piece of metal with wings was flying low over the freeway directly above me – I could even see the pilots faces, intent on making a safe landing.

I guess you could say that it was at that moment in time that the culmination of all my senses told me someday I would be a pilot making a smiliar landing at Moffett Field.    It was just a mere two years later, having taken the Aviation Officer Candidate Navy Program, that it was my turn to descend across the freeway with thousands of eyes of adults and youngsters alike, looking on and I am sure many were wishing they could be in the pilot’s seat.

Now, years later, I associate with people who are in network marketing, many of whom have a lifestyle that is second to none.  They travel, they take vacations, they have nice homes, and they work around their families’ schedule.

The question was, how do I get into that position myself?  Going to many conferences, finding the individuals who were real network marketers, who have the integrity, honesty, and the income to create the lifestyle that I was looking for, I found it through Shaklee.  An honest, stable, dependable company with a great compensation plan, products, and like-minded people.

The question now is, are ready to take the next step?  When I decided to become a pilot, it was a choice that I had to make on a daily basis.  One doesn’t just wake up in the morning or drive down the freeway and tell themselves that today they are a pilot.  They have to start with a mental state of deciding if they really want to do it and are they medically qualified.  There are books to read, exams to take, practical applications to apply for navigation, and working in an environment where you literally can’t see a thing except for your instruments.  Every time you encounter another obstacle, you must decide inwardly if this is something you can do.

The same holds true for being in network marketing.  Every time you talk to someone, every time you try or use a product, you are making a choice as to the efficacy of the profession.  Would you put your faith, your desires, your future, in a profession that is dependent on other people?  Truly, network marketing is a business where you get paid for giving people an opportunity for a lifestyle instead of taking a paycheck.

Before you join any network marketing company, be sure to do it by examining the products, the compensation plan, the people, and the way they do business.  From then on it becomes a daily, and sometimes a minute by minute, choice of deciding if this is for  you.  Are you willing to put in the effort, have the stamina, and the direction to make it work for you?
