Optiflora® Probiotic Complex

The truth is, what we eat has to be digested.  What we digest is what we put in our mouth.  We don’t think about it, we don’t know it is happening until we get “sick.”

Yes, the intestinal track plays a positive role in your health.  The root of many health problems are related to an imbalance of intestinal bacteria.  You want to be healthy; then take care of your gut flora.

How do you do that?  Great question, glad you asked.

First, let’s take a look at why this is important.

Simply stated, it is the bacteria in our intestines that digest the food.  Yes, these are the good bacteria. Your body contains about 100 trillion bacteria.  (That is about 10 times the number of cells you have in your body).

It is the type and the quantity and quality of these micro-organisms that interact in your gut that can cause or prevent or encourage the development of many diseases.

They say the proper ratio of 85% good to 15% bad bacteria is the optimum ratio.  But how would we know?  Are we supposed to put a tube up our back side for samples?  I think not!

Anyway, maintaining that kind of ratio has over 30 beneficial pharmacological actions:  Allergies, acne, herpes, food and wheat allergies, common cold, pneumonia, and liver diseases, just to name a few.

What get this out of whack?  Sugar/fructose, refined grains, processed foods, chlorinated water, pollution, antibacterial soaps, agriculture chemicals and pesticides.

So what are the symptoms? Gas, bloating, constipation, fatigue, nausea, headaches, sugar cravings and refined carbs are some.

Ok! I am convinced!  So how to I keep the flora in my gut healthy?

Most of the way to get the right bacteria balance is to eat fermented foods; Kim chee, Lassi (an Indian yogurt drink), fermented raw milk, or various pickled fermentation of cabbage, sauerkraut, turnips, eggplant, cucumbers, onions, squash or carrots.

Obviously, these are not on my daily menu.

However, thank to Dr. Shaklee and the Shaklee Company has developed a probiotic that actually carries live beneficial bacteria safely through acidic condition of the stomach with a state-of-the-art, triple coated, encapsulated capsule.

This simply means, you don’t have to plan a menu of fermented foods if you don’t want to, and by simply taking 1 Shaklee probiotic a day, you are getting the good bacteria to the right place every day.  If you want to be more specific,  It also delivers guaranteed live probiotics Bifidobacterium longum and Lactobacillus acidophilus, along with the prebiotics FOS and inulin and provides gammatocopherol, a nutrient associated with colon health. (That was a mouthful)!
